We held our breath. 1.4 billion people.
Eyes fixed on our screens as we watched in excitement and anticipation. India was landing the Chandrayaan 3 on the surface of the moon. A massive endeavor, conducted on a shoestring budget, holding the hopes of a nation.
It was 6:04pm when the lander finally touched down and we could breathe; we could cheer! A momentous occasion as India became the fourth country to successfully land on the moon and the first at the south pole.
There were so many things about the Chandrayaan project that were incredible. Like the fact that it was done for less money than it cost to make the movie The Martian. Or that almost 1000 engineers and scientists planned and executed every stage of the landing perfectly to the exact minute! Or even that the livestream of the landing didn’t just break records for the most viewed livestream of all time – it DESTROYED them.
It was a beautiful moment for our nation, a chance to show the world what education, persistence and inspiration can achieve. We gathered as a family to watch and celebrate this triumph with all Indians across the globe.
“Like so many across the world, we gathered to watch India’s moon landing.”
A great moment for our children to witness.
Moon landings aside, it has been a pretty busy week here. The truth is that the weekend snuck up on us and we sudenly realized that we didn’t have many photos to share. Clifton quickly gave Parwat a call and asked him to race around the Mission with the camera to shoot anything that was going on – so here’s a little snapshot of what that looked like:
Blessings on you,
The GSAM family.
For Those Who Pray:
No real updates regarding our legal battles (an effort to remove some squatters from our property). That is a no surprise though as we expect this could take many years.
Please continue to pray for Aunty Josie and Paula as they battle long term health issues. Aunty Josie is home from hospital.
The best orphanage in our administration’s due diligence selection.
